The monument to sculptor Anton Agius was revealed for the first time today, just days before it is sent to a foundry in Italy to be cast in bronze.

The committee which has been collecting funds for the monument said it hoped to erect the monument near the Roman Villa in Rabat, close to where several of his works are displayed.

The monument is the work of Joseph Scerri, who had been one of Mr Agius's students.

Art student Monica Spiteri is also involved in the work.
