A monti hawker caught selling pirate DVDs at the Ta’ Qali flea market has been given a suspended jail term.

Jesmond Musù, 51, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Miriam Hayman to falsifying trademarks and breaching copyright laws.

Given his early guilty plea and his cooperation with investigators, the magistrate sentenced him to one year in jail, suspended for two, and ordered the destruction of all the DVDs seized by the police during a raid last January 11.

Police Inspector Rennie Stivala prosecuted.
