The newly refurbished laundry at St Vincent de Paul residence was inaugurated by Parliamentary Secretary for the Care of the Elderly Mario Galea this morning.

Alteration and other works at the laundry, which has been equipped with new machinery, were carried out by St Vincent de Paul employees and €63,000 were invested.

The launderers at the residence wash 700 kilos of laundry a day including the elderly's clothes, towels, face cloth, curtains, napkins and medical wear.

The sheets and pillow cases are washed by the cooperative KOLS and then passed on to the St Vincent de Paul laundry for distribution.

The staff at St Vincent de Paul distribute 200 sacks of clean laundry daily.
