Traffic wardens hired (from a private company) by Attard and Lija local councils to book drivers unaware that certain streets are temporarily closed to traffic at school-entry and school-leaving times are nothing else but modern highway robbers. Instead of closing the road at both ends at these times they let drivers unfamiliar with local arrangements (because they haven't noticed a small sign with small lettering) drive on and then pounce on them once they've entered the "money-trap".

Dual-carriage highways, like Tal-Barrani Road, with new speed cameras to be set at 60 kph, are another example of cynical money traps.
