Model makers laid out a world in miniature as eager visitors got a glimpse of the minutely detailed creations during an exhibition at the Catholic Institute in Floriana.

The exhibition by the Malta Society of Model Makers, the group’s largest event of the year, included models of ships, warplanes, figures, cars, tanks and dioramas in various scales.

Fully functional marine models, mainly local patrol and tugboats, also formed part of the display, which is the fruit of countless hours of dedication by the group’s members, who were also on hand during the exhibition.

The model show was open to the public over the past week, ending Sunday, and members answered visitors’ questions relating to the club, model making and the models on display.

The exhibition has been held annually since the group was founded in 2003. In that time, the society has also held regular lectures, meetings and exhibitions, offering an insight into its members’ work and scale modelling as a pursuit.

This year’s exhibition was divided into several sections, including marine, figures, radio-controlled boats and cars, engineering, armoured fighting vehicles (AFV), dioramas, aircraft and cars.
