Like many other organisations, the Society for Scale Modellers is this year marking 100 years since the end of World War I.

The Malta EXPO, organised by the modellers’ group and which comes to a close this evening, is featuring various models some already on display during similar events in recent years.

Those visiting the exhibition at the Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa on Monday will also be able to follow the process of model construction as members of the Society for Scale Modellers are showing their skills in assembling kits at their work stations.

Another activity being held during this year’s event is the Visitors Choice Awards.

This is the society’s way of getting the public to interact by voting for their three favourite models.

The society has also for the first time teamed up with Heritage Malta to organise a group event. The entrance ticket, which Heritage Malta has discounted to €2 (from the normal €5), will entitle each visitor to tour the Maritime Museum as well as visit the Malta EXPO.

The exhibition will run until 4pm today. More information is available on www.ipmsmalta.com or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/ipmsmalta.
