The yearly Mnarja festivities held during today's feast of St Peter and St Paul are in full swing in Buskett.

Activities began yesterday evening and will go on till later today. Events included folk singing (għana), animal and vegetable shows - including sheep shearing and ricotta-making demonstrations - as well historical re-enactments.

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca will present prizes to competition winners.

Mnarja is a typical Maltese feast which includes a mixture of tradition, religion, food and music. It is characterised by a night long picnic at Buskett on the eve of the feast involving large amounts of stewed rabbit and equally large volumes of locally-produced wine.

Times of Malta photographer Steve Zammit Lupi was on hand to capture some of the event's moments.
