Nobody had any reason to doubt the MLP leadership when it said it was anti-abortion.

In three years, however, the MLP leadership has refused to take a position on protecting Malta from the threat of abortion by entrenching this in the Constitution. Why is this?

The amendment would make it impossible for any future government with a one-seat majority to legalise abortion without the Opposition's support and the votes of two-thirds of all MPs.

I am concerned about this situation. What does the MLP leadership have to fear from this? Surely they are not contemplating legalising abortion if elected. Will someone from the MLP please tell us why they refuse to put the lid on the abortion debate once and for all? Keeping silent on this will inevitably raise questions.
