Labour MEP Marlene Mizzi has condemned the petition against gay adoptions and civil unions presented to MPs by  Gordon-John Manche, head of River of Love Christian fellowship group.

She said that minorities, including the gay community, should not continue to feel   threatened because of a petition run by an individual.

"Everyone has the right for an opinion, nonetheless just because one has an opinion, it give him/her no right to reduce other minority's rights, ” she said.

“We form part of a small nation and instead of fuelling hatred and picking on each other’s differences, we should do our best to keep united. There’s nothing best than solidarity itself. It is for this reason that I appeal for more tolerance and less hatred,” the MEP said.
