Students performed better this year in their A-Level exams in Maltese, English, pure mathematics, biology and computing but worse in French, Italian, German, Spanish, chemistry and physics.

The Examinations Board said that more than half the students passed their intermediate exams, a result it considered to be good. In general, the results could be further improved in the re-sits, it said.

Education Minister Dolores Cristina congratulated the successful students and encouraged them to continue pursuing a higher education and find a job that gave them satisfaction.
