The Malta Information Technology Agency (Mita) recently donated the proceeds from its annual 'Mita for the Community' day to three beneficiaries: YMCA, Dar Nazareth and Tgħanniqa.

The agency said it recognises its responsibility to make a positive difference in the life of its people and the local community at large. The 'Mita for the Community' day has now become part of its calendar of social activities.

The total sum of €2,500 was collected and has been equally distributed among this year's three beneficiaries, which do valuable work within different segments of the community.

YMCA provides shelter and support for homeless people and assists disadvantaged groups and individuals in the allocation of food, clothing and furniture.

Dar Nazareth gives the opportunity to its disabled residents to develop their abilities, give them a sense of independence and help them integrate with other members of the community.

The third beneficiary is an off-shoot of the Education Section in Dar it-Tama. Tgħanniqa was set up to help children coming from disadvantaged social and financial backgrounds in the Cottonera area by giving them free private lessons.
