I awaited in anticipation for TVM's Dissett on blogs (April 13) as the subject is very much at heart.

I cannot have been more disappointed though.

First of all the guests were not even bloggers! One is involved in the Labour Party and I am not sure about the other who seemed to be a PN sympathiser.

So in something so un-partisan as blogging, the producers had to involve partisan politics as well - without including one blogger who could at least really say something about blogs - except the person who was interviewed.

What did they discuss? It was not blogs they discussed. It was Daphne Caruana Galizia's blog and that only! I believe that 90 per cent of the programme was dedicated to her controversial blog - and how to regulate such blogs. Hardly any mention was made of the educational benefit they have.

They totally ignored the fact that teachers are being encouraged to use blogging as a tool. They totally ignored the fact that even students use blogs.

Not even one example of an educational blog created by teachers was brought up! Then there are blogs created by families, for example. There are blogs about travel and many more topics.

Blogs can be misused, yes, but why dedicate a whole discussion programme to one particular instance of misuse (if it is misuse after all) and call it a discussion about blogs? The panel did not even realise that one can even embed pictures and videos into blogs as at one time when a video was mentioned it was made clear that they were not talking about blogs. They seemed to believe that blogs consist only of text! What a disservice!
