Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece, Manon Lescaut, featuring Miriam Gauci in the title role, will be staged at the Aurora Theatre, Victoria, on Saturday, at 7.30pm.

The opera, which is the operatic production of this year’s Gaulitana: A Festival of Music, is being presented on the local stage following an absence of over 20 years.

Acclaimed tenor Enrique Ferrer, renowned for his dramatic power, personality and musicality, will interpret the role of Des Grieux.

Lucio Gallo will take on the role of Lescaut, and Geronte will be sung by Luciano Leoni. The cast will be complemented by Didier Pieri, who plays Edmondo, the dance master, and lamplighter; Joseph Lia, who plays the innkeeper and the naval captain; Ken Scicluna plays the sergeant; and Clare Ghigo is the singer.

The production will be directed by Enrico Castiglione. Colin Attard will conduct the Gaulitanus Choir and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
