The Nationalist Party has called on the Home Affairs Ministry to shoulder political responsibility for an error in the charges of a convicted drug trafficker.

In a statement, the PN said that in August 2011, then leader of the Opposition Joseph Muscat had expressed shock that the police had made a mistake in the charges of a person accused of rape and called on the government to shoulder responsibility.

In April 2012, the Labour Party repeatedly called on the Home Affairs Ministry to shoulder responsibility following a mistake by the police in the details of a rape charge.

And in May that same year, the PL had insisted that the Justice Ministry shoulder responsibility for a mistake by the police in the charge sheet of a person who had hit a policeman and a bouncer, a case which led to the intervention of the President, who also called for responsibility to be shouldered.
