The former secretary of Finance Minister Tonio Fenech, Noel Borg Hedley, 67 of Gzira, was this morning permanently interdicted and conditionally discharged for three years after he admitted bribery in conection with his post.

Mr Borg Hedley had been accused of having received money from developers JPM Developers in order to use his influence for fines could be quashed or reduced.

The case happened between April and July last year.

Drs Franco Debono and Charmaine Charrett were defence counsel.

Mr Borg Hedley was a director of Gozo Channel but a Finance Ministry spokesman said he ceased to hold that position when the legal proceedings were launched.
