Finance Minister Tonio Fenech this evening reiterated the government’s commitment to rebuilding the bridge to the Valletta breakwater arm.

Delivering his budget speech, Mr Fenech said that over the coming year, works would be taken on hand for the repair of the Grand Harbour breakwater arms and the rebuilding of the bridge which was destroyed in the Italian e-boat attack of 1941.

Worls will also be carried out at Deep Water Quay and facilities for cruise liner passengers along the shores of Valletta and Senglea.

Also planned for next year is the rebuilding of the Barrakka lift, to modern design .

“ This should also encourage those interested, to restart a regular ferry service between Valletta and Cottonera,” the minister said.
