Finance Minister Tonio Fenech has given details in Parliament on the composition of Enemalta's debt of €557 million.

Replying to a parliamentary question, the minister said the debt was €131.7 million in 1994 and has been on on upward trend since.

It was €263 million 10 years ago.

The total amounts due per bank is as follows:

Bank of Valletta - €275.5 million; HSBC - €14.7 million; APS - €13.9 million; Volksbank - €1.9 million; DEPFA - €146 million and EIB - €105 million.

The interest rates with BOV are: overdraft at the rate of 3.45%, loan of €100m at 2.8% and other loans at 3.9% and 4.2%;

HSBC - overdraft at the rate of 5%.

APS loan at the rate of 3.35%.

Volksbank - Overdraft at the rate of 2.796%.

DEPFA - €110m at 1.1485% and €36.250m at 4.635%.

EIB - €15m at 4.3230%; €30m at 3.9860%; €30m at 3.5090% and €30m at 3.1010%. The EIB interest rates are fixed for 20 years.
