A 6.8-kilometre fun run to commemorate the founding of the Conseil International du Sport Militaire’s was held this morning from the AFM Headquarters in Luqa to Auberge de Castille in Valletta.

Besides the AFM, policemen, members of the Civil Protection Department, staff at Corradino Correction Facilities and three members of the Italian Military Mission also took part in the run. There were around 200 participants in the 40-minute run.

CISM was set up in 1948 and the AFM became a member in 2008. On its anniversary, all 131 member nations organise the CISM Day Run, a five-kilometre non-competitive fun run in which all uniformed forces, including the military and Police, take part. The aim is to promote friendship through sports.
