Leonardo screamed at his under-performing Milan side so much in today's 1-1 Serie A draw at Atalanta that he almost completely lost his voice.
The rookie coach, under pressure after Wednesday's Champions league loss to FC Zurich, had to skip post-match interviews.
"It's not that I'm running away, I just can't do it," the Brazilian whispered to Sky television.
Leonardo, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti at the end of last season, was given a vote of confidence after the Zurich defeat but club officials made no comment after Milan picked up just their ninth point from seven Serie A matches.
Napoli coach Roberto Donadoni is also looking over his shoulder after the 2-1 loss at injury-hit Roma made it four away matches without a point.
"We will see if in the coming months I take a decision also over the coach. Now we have 15 days to think and consider," club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, whose sporting director Pierpaolo Marino left last week, told Rai television.
