Milan have conceded that Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso may leave the Serie A side in the transfer window despite being offered a contract extension after complaining about a recent shortage of playing time.

"Now he has two roads; he can either extend his contract or leave, therefore he'll take a decision in December, before January," Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani said.

Galliani dismissed reports linking Gattuso, who is injured at the moment, to Manchester City or to a link-up with former Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea.

"Milan is not a hotel where you check out and go. Rino (Gattuso) has a contract with Milan and I don't think he has an agreement with anyone," Galliani said.

"I spoke to Carlo Ancelotti and he told me he wasn't interested in Gattuso. There's also this path of Manchester City but Rino told me this does not exist."
