Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri insisted he was calm despite his side’s 1-1 draw at Lecce pegging their lead at the top of Serie A to just four points.

The draw meant Milan have now won just one of their last four league matches, picking up five points.

That has allowed all their major rivals except Juventus to gain ground on them.

Over the same period Roma have moved four points closer while both Napoli and Lazio have gained two points.

Only Juve, who picked up a point less in their last four games, have lost ground.

But perhaps the team that Milan will most be concerned about is cross-city rivals Inter who have won four straight games under new boss Leonardo, who coached Milan last season, including three in the league.

Inter are still down in sixth place but with two games in hand and if they win both they would be Milan’s closest challengers just three points away.

“There’s no alarm because for example (last week) we played Udinese who are in great form and we conceded three counter-attacks in the second half with individual errors,” said Allegri.

“Lecce however never got close to our box. I was pleased with our attitude and we finished with a bang just as we did against Udinese.

“Over the whole season there are moments in which you drop points and the others gain ground but we’re still four points clear of second place and even more than that ahead of the rest.

“There’s still 20 matches left (sic. 18) and we’ll work with those who we have at our disposal.”

Midfielder Clarence Seedorf said Milan must be wary of a resurgent Inter.

“As long as we’re top we need to stay calm, the desire to win is there,” he said.

“Inter’s resurgence could take away some of our lucidity but I’m convinced we’ll get back on track.”
