A tanker carrying more than 100 migrants finally managed to enter Grand Harbour this afternoon - three days after rescuing the migrants in rough weather.

The Overseas Primar, which is heavily loaded with oil, stopped in the middle of the fairway to allow launches to get alongside to transfer the migrants. The migrants are being landed at Pinto wharf.

The ship rescued 162 migrants from a 10-metre boat 59 miles south of Malta, but bad weather had since defied attempts at the disembarkation of the migrants. One such operation yesterday afternoon off Anchor Bay had to be stopped after only 58 migrants were transferred.

A pregnant migrant was airlifted from the tanker on Monday night.
