A Somali migrant has been sentenced to one month imprisonment after he admitted presenting the Refugee Commission with false documents.

Shariif Sid Abdulqadir, 23, is registered in Sweden but had not been granted refugees status. He subsequently travelled to Malta legally but then presented the Refugee Commission with false documents and a fabricated identity in a bid to obtain refugee status.

Magistrate Joe Mifsud sentenced the accused to one month imprisonment. Arrangements are being made for him to be repatriated to Sweden.
