The Italian coast guard has rescued over 150 migrants - including a new-born baby - after they spent a week at sea.

The coastguard rescued the migrants yesterday after their vessel became stranded in the waters off Calabria.

Officials believe the boat set sail from Turkey seven days ago.

The migrants were said to hail from several countries, including Syria and Afghanistan.

The boat was one of four migrant vessels recently intercepted by the Italian coast guard.
