Middle Sea Insurance was the highest climber during the week as the price opened at Lm2.19 on Tuesday and closed at Lm2.27 on Wednesday representing a percentage increase of 3.653 per cent.

Five deals were struck for a total volume of 1,810 shares. At the end of trading, 3,972 at Lm1.90 and 72 at Lm2.34 were the best unsatisfied bids and offers respectively.

The price of Maltacom shares this week ranged between the weekly low of Lm0.90 and the weekly high Lm0.925. Trading took place between Tuesday and Thursday with 43 deals being struck for a total volume of 64,507 shares.

At the close of business on Thursday best bids for 4,000 shares at Lm0.90 stood against 2,530 shares at Lm0.92.

Bank of Valletta shares opened trading at Lm2.30 on Tuesday, went up to Lm2.40 during the same session but eventually went down again in the following two trading sessions to close the week at Lm2.30.

A total of 17,165 shares changed hands over the week, in 27 deals. Following the close of business on Thursday, 292 shares at Lm2.30 and 3,597 shares at Lm2.39 made up the best unsatisfied bids and offers respectively.

HSBC Bank shares saw fourteen deals being struck in its shares during the week, over which 13,351 shares changed hands.

Trading commenced at Lm4 on Monday and went up during the week to close at Lm4.13 on Thursday. At the end of trading on Thursday 200 shares at Lm4 were left as best outstanding bids, while 510 shares at Lm4.13 were the best offers still unsatisfied.

The other equities which traded during the week appear below, followed by the range in which trading took place: 2,000 International Hotels Investments shares between Lm0.90 and Lm0.93; 833 Lombard Bank shares at Lm3.73; 4,000 Malta International Airport shares between Lm0.695 and Lm0.69 and 620 Simonds Farsons Cisk shares at Lm0.65.

Trading over the week in Corporate Bonds was made up of a total value of Lm108,417 being struck in thirty deals over sixteen different bonds, while total Malta Government Stock turnover over the week amounted to a nominal value of Lm518,200 being struck in 15 deals over eight different stocks.

The Malta Stock Exchange Share Index increased by 23.793 points or 1.28 per cent over the week and now stands at 1,883.723.
