Italian striker Fabrizio Miccoli has completed his move to Birkirkara after signing a one-year contract.

Miccoli, who turns 36 on Saturday, inked the deal at the Valletta offices of club president Adrian Delia this afternoon soon after landing in Malta.

The former Juventus and Fiorentina striker told Times of Malta that new Birkirkara coach Giovanni Tedesco, his former team-mate at Palermo, was instrumental in persuading him to join the Stripes.

Miccoli added that he thought of retiring from football after a disappointing season with Lecce but he changed his mind as he wants to end his career with a smile on his face.
