The first scheduled NIKI service from Vienna to Malta touched down today.

The incoming aircraft was met with a water salute provided by the Malta International Airport’s Fire and Rescue Department, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony. Hostesses dressed in traditional Maltese dress greeted passengers with flowers in the arrival’s hall.

The Austrian airline, part of the airberlin group, will initially offer three weekly services from Vienna to Malta.

Visitors from Malta can fly direct to Vienna on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays leaving Malta at 2.05pm, landing in Vienna at 4.20pm.

The flight from Vienna International Airport to Malta takes off at 11.05 am, arriving in Malta Airport at 1.20pm on the same days.

This new route is aligned to the airberlin schedule, offering travellers from Malta connections to the German group’s international network.

Onward flights to Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, Munich and Nuremberg are available with attractive layover times.

Other connections, including to Moscow, Zurich and Paris, are also available.
