The MSE Equity Price Index advanced by 0.17% to 4,683.253 points today as the gains in BOV and MIA offset the declines in GO, Lombard and Malta Properties.

Trading volumes rose markedly to €1.42 million (an over two-month high) as activity in the equity of Malta International Airport plc surged to €1.21 million today. The share price of the airport operator advanced by 1.1% today to a new 2017 high of €4.65 across 259,750 shares.

Bank of Valletta plc regained the €2.10 level (+1.4%) on seven deals totalling 66,976 shares.

Within the same sector, HSBC Bank Malta plc maintained the €1.90 level across 6,000 shares.

PG plc held on to its all-time high of €1.50 and Simonds Farsons Cisk plc also finished unchanged at the €9.47 level. Trading volumes in both equities were weak.

Meanwhile, a single deal of just 2,000 shares pulled the equity of Malta Properties Company plc 3.8% lower back to the €0.51 level.

Lombard Bank Malta plc and GO plc also trended lower today. Lombard eased minimally to the €2.20 level on 9,384 shares while GO lost 2% to the €3.46 level across two deals totalling 11,000 shares.

The RF MGS Index advanced for the fifth consecutive day as it gained a further 0.18% to a near five-week high of 1,126.410 points. Euro zone sovereign yields extended their recent downward trend as two indices gauging the level of economic confidence in Germany and in the whole of the single currency area disappointed. Meanwhile, core inflation within the euro area stayed at +1.1% in September.
