Markus Klaushofer has been appointed chief executive officer of Malta International Airport plc, with effect from next January 1.

For the past three years, Mr Klaushofer was at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport, as divisional director for marketing, sales and business development and subsequently as chief commercial officer.

Earlier, he spent over seven years at Vienna International Airport, as head of marketing and sales (including cargo), later taking on the added role of business development.

Mr Klaushofer, 38, served on the board of directors of Malta International Airport plc, between April 2007 and April 2009.
