For the second year running, the Malta International Airport (MIA), in line with its corporate social responsbility programme, is hosting a football festival for U-9 and U-10 teams at the Melita FC ground tomorrow.

The tournament launch, held yesterday, was addressed by Rosette Fenech, head of communications and events at MIA, and the draw was made by Birkirkara and Malta midfielder George Mallia who forms part of MIA's management team.

Fenech reiterated MIA's commitment towards the promotion of sports in Malta, saying that sports education among the younger generation ensures a healthier society for the future.

The participating nurseries in the U-9 festival are Melita, Tarxien, Birkirkara, Mosta, Floriana, San Ġwann, Valletta, Birżebbuġa. The U-10 tournament will see the participation of Melita Tarxien, Birkirkara, Mosta, Floriana, San Ġwann, Sliema and Żebbuġ.

One team from each age-group will be invited by MIA to take part in an international tournament in Austria between August 19 and 22. This tournament is open to nursery teams from countries that have business connections with VIE, MIA's partner airport.
