A 1.1 per cent drop in the Malta International Airport plc share price dragged the MSE Share Index down for a second consecutive day today.

The 0.1 per cent drop to 4,538.771 points was nevertheless smaller than yesterday’s 0.25 per cent fall.

Plaza Centres plc’s equity also trended lower during this morning’s session by 0.5 per cent, back to the €1.03 level on a single deal of 15,000 shares. Plaza’s shares will continue to trade with entitlement to the final gross dividend of €0.044 per share (net: €0.0278) until next Tuesday April 26, and will turn ex-dividend on Wednesday April 27.

Bank of Valletta plc’s share price rose by 0.2 per cent to regain the €2.265 level across seven trades totalling 13,760 shares. The Bank is scheduled to publish its interim results (covering the six months up to March 31) on Friday April 26.

HSBC Bank Malta plc shares stood still at the €1.60 level on heightened volumes of 71,759 shares. Likewise, the equity of MIDI plc held on to the €0.39 level on volumes of 15,000 shares.

On the bond market, the RF MGS Index registered its fourth consecutive decline as it slipped by a further 0.2 per cent to a five-week low of 1,149.865 points partly reflecting the uplift in the benchmark 10-year Eurozone yield towards the 0.2 per cent level.

The increase in yields was triggered by the rebound in oil prices to a five month high ahead of today’s European Central Bank (ECB) monetary policy meeting. In fact, this afternoon the 10-year German Bund yield continued to trend higher to reach the 0.22 per cent level (the first time in 4-weeks) as the ECB announced that it held its reference interest rate unchanged at 0 per cent.

Trading in the new 4.25 per cent Corinthia Finance plc 2026 bonds is due to commence tomorrow.
