Nationalist MEP hopeful Roberta Metsola Tedesco Triccas has expressed her support to a Consumers’ Pact launched by the European Consumers’ Organisations some weeks ago.
This pact has been drawn up by the organisation as a political guide for Members of the European Parliament and to all EP candidates.
Speaking during a news conference at the Birkirkara market this morning, Dr Metsola Tedesco Triccas said she fully agreed with this pact because she believed the EU was the consumers’ best tool to strengthen their rights.
The pact also served for European citizens, including Maltese ones, to move closer to the EU and make more use of their rights as European citizens.
Dr Metsola Tedesco Triccas explained that according to the September Eurobarometer Survey, 70 percent of European consumers were willing to defend their rights in Court if they had the opportunity to unite with other consumers facing similar difficulties.
The pact, she said, focused on energy and sustainability, financial services, the digital world, health, security, consumers’ contracts, food and collective action.
