London-based Mercieca Communications has picked up the prestigious GRAMIA (Grocery Retail and Marketing Industry Awards) Trade Agency of the Year award for the second year running.

To complement this award, they also won a Best Creative award for their work on Swan Smoking Requisites (Swedish Match Co).

The event was held at the London Hilton and was attended by over 800 top executives from the Grocery Manufacturing and Retail Industries - widely considered to be the Oscars of the Grocery Industry.

Mercieca Communications, about to celebrate its eighth birthday on January 4, was founded by Paul Mercieca and now incorporates a sister company, Mercieca PR. Both companies are doing well and, in an economic climate where many agencies are up to 50 per cent down in revenues, Mercieca is over 50 per cent up compared to last year (which in itself was very profitable).

The company boasts an enviable list of clients/brands which include: Budweiser, Beko, Finlandia Vodka, Southern Comfort, Jack Daniels, Danone, GlaxoSmithkline, Procter & Gamble (Pringles, Pampers, Ariel, etc), Tropicana, Wilkinson Sword and Wrigley.

Paul Mercieca said he was very pleased with this year's result and he would be doing everything in his power to ensure a hat trick at the 2003 awards late next year. He added that at this rate, he would hopefully be able to afford that dream retirement home in Malta!
