An illegally-built marquee on one of the seafront terraces at Villa Cassar Torreggiani in St Julian’s used as a restaurant was yesterday removed by the planning authority’s enforcement arm.

The structure was meant to be dismantled last month but a short court battle which ended in Mepa’s favour last week slowed down the process.

Last March the site was served with an enforcement notice to stop putting up signage, glass wind breakers and floor decking without planning permission.
