Mepa said this morning that no one had formally registered as an objector to the gas power station project.

In a reply to a judicial letter filed last week against its chairman by (Fisheries Cooperative president) Ray Bugeja and his wife (in their personal capacity), Mepa said it could not understand how Mr and Mrs Bugeja had filed the letter to protest against the project when they had not registered themselves as third party objectors to the project and had not participated in the process. Indeed,  not a single person had registered as an objector to the project.

Reacting to Mr Bugeja's call for Mepa to desist from deciding today on the gas power station until it was properly informed, Mepa said that its board was well informed  and several reports had been prepared by international experts.

With regard to Mr Bugeja's objections to the floating gas storage facility because of possible dangers, Mepa said the gas would be stored in liquid form and the release source would be in liquid form, without the danger complained of.

Lawyers Robert Abela and Ian Borg signed the reply.
