The Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) said it determined 274 development applications in March and received 460 new applications. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 4,773.

During March the authority processed 70 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.

A total of 44 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 36 in Malta and 8 in Gozo. 14 enforcement cases were closed, 8 in Malta and 6 in Gozo. Six enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit. Another eight cases were resolved since owners decided to remove illegal development and comply with enforcement notice, the authority said.
