The direct action team of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority opened up a road in Juno Heights, Marsaxlokk after the owner failed to comply with a permit condition.

The owner of a corner plot there had been given planning permission to build a house in 1986. One of the conditions was that the owner had to open up the street. Parts of a rubble wall were still standing where the road should have been formed. An enforcement notice was issued and works had been started but for some reason they stopped, Mepa said.

The direct action team opened up the road by removing the rubble wall and levelled out the debris to provide access to traffic.

Direct actions are carried out by Mepa and the cost billed to non-compliant owners.
