It seems that the Malta Environment and Planning Authority does not respect aesthetics in village cores. Certain regulations should be followed for the sake of aesthetics, but it seems that Mepa makes the rules and breaks them!
Around 10 years ago we were denied permission by Mepa to install aluminium apertures since our house was situated in the village core; we had to install wooden apertures so that aesthetics were respected. Although expensive, we abided by the regulations.
Now, a telecommunications antenna has been mounted on a house of character in Lija's village core. It is a monstrosity and an eyesore.
I cannot understand how Mepa gives the green light for such a thing to happen.
I appeal to Mepa to remove this antenna immediately if it wants us to believe that it respects aesthetics.
