Work on a new Family Park in Mellieha is proceeding at a fast pace, the Resources Ministry said today.

It said that extensive excavation work has been completed and workers are currently building rubble walls planting trees and installing facilities for visitors.

The project is being held in collaboration with Mellieha Council and will cost some €800,000.

The new park is located at the approaches to Selmun. It is due for completion by the end of March.

Resources Minister George Pullicino visited the site this morning to oversee the tree-planting. He said that since the 34U campaign was launched  six years ago, 110,000 trees were planted.
