Melita Cable is adding two new channels to its existing channel line-up but has been forced to halt broadcasting the Bravo channel.

Hallmark channel will be added in both the digital and analogue platforms while Eurosport 2 is being included in the Melita Connect channel line-up.

In a statement, Melita Cable said this was a difficult decision for the company to take but in the last few weeks the issue of sports rights connected with the Italian Serie A programming had become more "complex". As a result, it had been forced, by virtue of a court order, to block the majority of the live and repeat Italian Serie A games scheduled on Bravo.

This amounted to nearly 10 per cent of all the programming of the channel, head of sales and marketing Franco de Gabriele said.

Melita was engaged in a legal battle after its competitor MultiPlus won exclusive rights to screen the Italian Serie A matches. On the other hand, Melita broadcasts live the English Premier Leauge matches.

With the latest changes in the Melita Digital channel line-up customers can now enjoy an array of 70 channels, two of which are promotional.

There are also 50 digital radio stations, all for a reduced price of Lm13 per month. This was just Lm1.20 per month more than the Family Package in analogue, Melita said.

Melita earlier this month announced the launch of Multiroom, a scheme through which Melita Digital subscribers can connect multiple set-top boxes in different rooms at no extra cash outlay and enjoy digital programming for Lm2.50 per month per room.
