Balzan 0 Melita 0

Balzan and Melita gave life to a drab encounter at the Tedesco Stadium as the
two relegation strugglers cancelled each other in a goalless draw. The match
turned out to be a drab affair with both sides clearly short of ideas in front of
goal with the result that chances were few and fare between.

It was Balzan who showed the better fare but still they found it difficult to create
any real danger to the Melita goal and in end they had to relinquish the top spot
of the relegation pool.

Balzan fashioned their first chance on 36 minutes and it came from Jamie Pace who embarked on a good run through the middle but his shot was off target.Another fluent Balzan move six minutes after the break opened the Melita
rearguard, Ryan Darmanin who advanced towards goal but fired over much to
the dismay of the few Balzan fans.

A minute pass the hour, Renato Conceicao’s freekick flew over the bar.

Three minutes later, Melita defender Manuel Sierra Camacho unleashed a swerving
free-kick but Daniel Martinez produced a magnificent save as he leapt to the left
to touch away the ball.Reprieved, Balzan almost broke the deadlock but Pace headed over from close range after meeting substitute Dylan Grima’s cross, ten minutesfrom time.

Substitute Bjorn Bondin almost snatch all points when a cross-field pass out of the defence was intercepted by the Balzan midfielder but fired wide.
