Megabyte Ltd is further reinforcing its partnership with Oracle by adding a new business unit to focus exclusively on delivering world-class enterprise solutions based on Oracle's e-Business Suite applications.

This includes the suite's recently launched Special Edition that is targeted to meet the information systems needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The business unit's remit includes providing consulting, implementation and help-desk support services for the suite, complemented by a wide range of technology services provided by the existing core services units that make up Megabyte as it is today.

Mary-Grace Busuttil, the manager of the new business unit, is responsible for all matters concerning the running of the Oracle Enterprise Solutions Business Unit, especially client engagement management, people development and full responsibility for on-going and future Oracle applications implementation projects.

She has been entrusted with the delivery of the right functionality fit using best practice methodologies and by using Megabyte's core technology skills for developing 'add-on' functionality specific to vertical industry segments.

Ms Busuttil joined Megabyte in 1998 and has developed herself to become an accomplished Oracle eBusiness Suite consultant over the years. As a result of her track record, she was selected to lead this new business unit that includes a highly qualified team of Oracle implementers and a dedicated Business Development Executive. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Computing from the University of Malta and is also an Oracle Certified consultant.

In a short statement marking the event Kevin Attard, business development manager, Oracle Malta, congratulated Megabyte for this latest initiative and said: "Oracle and Megabyte have already produced significant achievements in delivering Oracle Enterprise Solutions to high profile customers, both in Malta and Europe.

"However, both Oracle and Megabyte believe that there is room for a much wider adoption of the Oracle eBusiness Suite as the tool to enable local SMEs to gain visible competitive advantage and improve customer satisfaction."

Mr Attard welcomed Megabyte's decision to form this new business unit, which is perfectly in line with Oracle's plans to engage with trusted and strong partners like Megabyte to address the needs of the local business community and help them implement affordable enterprise wide applications in a reasonable time.

In view of the 16-year experience as Oracle Certified Partner, Megabyte has the right blend of core skills and business expertise to ensure a long-term relationship with customers, Mr Attard said. The Megabyte-Oracle offering can be relied on to make a significant difference to the business of Maltese SMEs while maintaining its ongoing commitment to deliver its vast expertise on Oracle Business Solution product to high value customers.

In his statement, John Ambrogio, general manager of Megabyte Ltd, with over 25 years of serving local businesses with dependable and stable information technology solutions, thanked Oracle for their continued encouragement and support. He confirmed: "The decision to launch this new Oracle Enterprise Business Unit was promoted by the need to focus attention on the SME sector while strengthening the presence of Oracle and Megabyte in public sector corporations.

"Megabyte is conscious of the fact that many customers are under the wrong impression that Enterprise Resource Planning applications, or as they are otherwise known, ERPs, are inflexible, too costly and too complex for smaller companies to consider them appropriate for their needs.

"In fact, our reputation as a provider of world class leading products like Oracle eBusiness Suite has led some SMEs to assume that we do not address the needs of smaller organisations.

"The mission of this new business unit is to change that perception and to reiterate our commitment to deliver the Oracle eBusiness product line using implementation expertise according to industry needs and best practice, to meet the ever increasing need of timely and accurate business information requirements of SMEs."

This is also in synergy with Oracle's corporate strategy, to address the SMEs' specific needs while still offering best-of-breed solutions at affordable prices.
