The first Mediterranean gastro festival in Gozo was held over the weekend. It was organised by the Gozo Council for Culture and the Arts within the Gozo Ministry and the Associazione Tipico of Abruzzo.

Chefs and food suppliers, together with tourism operators, joined forces to present typical foods of their regions.

The festival opened with a concert by the Chorus Urbanus at the cathedral in Victoria followed by a period re-enactment of the Knights of St John and the inauguration of a sculpture exhibition by Paolo Spoltore of Abruzzo.

Other activities included a seminar on avoiding obesity through a Mediterranean diet led by Corrado Pierantoni, a nutritionist and anthropologist Ray Debono Roberts.

Ten of the most popular chefs of the Abruzzo and Veneto regions prepared the food for a dinner at Palazzo Palina, Ta' Ċenċ.
