Mediterranean Bank Network, the non-profit banking organisation headquartered in Malta, recently addressed participants at the international conference organised by the World Savings Banks Institute held in Barcelona. The event aimed at identifying best practices and highlighted the social and economic role of banks as promoters of the Union for the Mediterranean.

Mediterranean Bank Network was represented by Adelina Achilli on behalf of its member Banco Popolare. Ms Achilli presented views on the role of banks in contributing to the effectiveness of investment financing in North African countries and outlined the region's economic situation, the effect of the worldwide financial circumstances and challenges ahead.

Through its member banks, the MBN has a physical presence in several Mediterranean countries represented by nine member banks. The network markets the member banks regionally and enjoys the influence of forming part of a regional Euro Med banking association.

Members of the Mediterranean Bank Network enjoy sole and exclusive representation of its country of origin, as only one bank is permitted per Mediterranean country. More information about the MBN can be found on its corporate website www.medbanknet.com.
