Malta-based Medavia Aviation has suspended its daily flight between Libya's Mitiga airport and Malta until November 16 on instructions from the Maltese authorities while the island hosts a two-day EU migration summit.

An airline official confirmed the news to Times of Malta.

The summit, focused on migration, will be held on Wednesday and Thursday grouping heads of government from EU and African nations. These include countries from which migrants depart, and transit countries. It is not yet clear if Libya - the last stop for migrants crossing the Mediterranean - is sending anyone.

The EU has announced that the Libyan place was “on hold”.
