The Malta Employers' Association condemned the unofficial industrial action being taken by some drivers working for Arriva and said one can never allow a situation where a few are taking the law in their own hands.

It said Malta had a solid industrial relations system and any disputes should be resolved through dialogue between representative unions and management.

It expressed its support to both management and the representative union in their efforts to iron out any pending issues to ensure that a professional service is provided.

"MEA is concerned that many employees have not managed to get to work on time because of these disruptions.

"The association agreed with statements by trade unions about workers arriving late for work and called on employers to be tolerant with employees who showed up late at the workplace through no fault of their own," it said.
