The reform of the Malta Council for Social and Economic Development (MCESD) will move on, and will see it modelled more closely onto the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue Aaron Farrugia said on Monday that the members of the council would be able to act as rapporteurs on issues, And they would also be able to use expert input in order to draw up opinion papers.

The parliamentary secretary said that the aim was for five opinion papers to be drawn up by the end of the year.
