Seven-year-old Mathea Saliba of Qormi has won first prize in the McDonald’s Monsters vs Aliens competition.

Mathea was one of 11 winners from around the globe who each won a trip to Los Angeles, California where they will be visiting the DreamWorks studio where Monsters vs. Aliens was made.

Participants in the competition where asked to create their very own animated monster and the winning monster designs will be featured in a specially designed movie clip that will be produced by the award winning team at DreamWorks.

This competition, which was run in conjunction with DreamWorks, also had the aim of enhancing awareness of environmental issues. Children in fact had to create a monster that could help make the planet beautiful and fun.

Using her imagination Mathea created “Bunny Goo” the monster that had the ability of cleaning polluted air, collect unwanted waste, recycle used material and plant seeds that would ensure a greener environment.

“I am very excited to go to Los Angeles especially to visit DreamWork studios as this is a rare opportunity for a child of my age. I am sure that I will have loads of fun!” said Ms Saliba.
