The Malta Communications Authority (MCA), in collaboration with the University of Malta, is offering postgraduate students engaged in research as part of master and doctoral studies .

The deadline for applications is April 29. Funds will be allocated directly to eligible applicants on a competitive basis.

A committee of experts from the University and the MCA will select the research to be funded on the basis of the quality of application, the relevance of the research to the work of the MCA and the demonstrated need for funding.

Eligible expenses may include the rental or purchase of specialised equipment, printing, postage, materials for experiments and research related services.

The research thematic areas may relate to engineering, psychology, sociology and education, legal, business, economics and public policy.

Prof. Juanito Camilleri, University of Malta Rector, welcomed the introduction of the support scheme and thanked the MCAfor offering students such an incentive.

He said it was important to assist students in their research as it was Malta’s human capital that can give the country its competitive edge.
