May was warmer and brighter than the norm, according to the Meteorological Office.

The average temperature stood at 19.6°C, 0.5°C higher than the climate norm of 19.1°C. The highest temperature peaked at 29.9°C on May 26, exceeding the maximum climate norm by 6.6°C. Meanwhile, the lowest temperature recorded was 11.6°C on the night between May 5 and 6.

There was a total 324.5 hours of bright sunshine. The average stood at 10.5 hours of sunshine a day, which tallied to 0.8 above the norm of 9.7 hours. The brightest days were recorded on the 12th and 29th, each enjoying a total of 13 hours of sunshine. The dullest day recorded was the 18th.

May also experienced light showers which amounted to 5.6mm, less than the norm of 6.7mm. The bulk of the rain fell on the 2nd of the month, adding up to 3.6mm. Malta registered only one day of thunderstorms and one day of foggy weather.
